Flagship facility for residents experiencing homelessness unveiled

A flagship housing facility has opened in Maidenhead this month, marking one of the most significant investments in homelessness support within the Royal Borough in recent years.

John West House in Maidenhead is set to support residents facing homelessness by providing high-quality emergency accommodation and nearby access to support services.

Following a major refurbishment of a previously vacant site, John West House provides a seven-bed hostel for former rough sleepers, alongside twelve self-contained emergency accommodation units. Additionally, the facility includes dedicated office space and is located close to support services.

Help design your play park adventures

Want to share your ideas on the new equipment and visual themes at the Vansittart, Boyne Grove and Grenfell play parks?

Our parks team will have stands in the three parks over half-term to gather your feedback:

Tuesday 26 May - Grenfell Park (10-4pm)

Wednesday 27 May - Vansittart Recreation Ground (10-4pm)

Thursday 28 May - Boyn Grove Park (10-4pm)

Our online survey on RBWM Together also runs until midnight on Sunday 7 June and we'd love to hear from residents of all ages.

Work begins at Clewer Memorial play park

Thanks to your feedback so far, work has started at the Clewer Memorial play park with Oaken Grove’s renovation due to start on 1 June.

Both will reopen in time for the summer holidays, ready to welcome families back to vibrant and modern spaces designed for exploration and fun.

Key information for the

Bank Holiday

Bin collections from 6am

There are no changes to bin collections over the Bank Holiday - so please put your bin out on your usual day, even if it is Monday 25 May.

It's set to be hot next week, so our crews will be starting their collections slightly earlier from 6am, when it is cooler and to avoid working at the hottest part of the day. Please ensure your bin is out ready for the earlier collection next week

Keeping our green spaces clean

With the bank holiday bringing more people out to enjoy our parks and green spaces, we’re asking everyone to help keep the borough clean and tidy.

If you’re out and about, please take your litter home if bins are full and don’t leave rubbish beside or on top of bins. Where possible, recycle what you can.

A small effort from each of us makes a big difference in keeping our streets, parks and open spaces looking their best for everyone to enjoy.

Walk to School Week

Although we’re nearing the end of Walk to School Week, there are still plenty of ways to carry the message forward.

Walking has fantastic benefits for both you and your child, from keeping healthy to boosting moods and behaviour. Additionally, it’s great for the environment by reducing vehicles and congestion on the road.
