Battle of Britain to be commemorated this Sunday

A parade and service will be held in Windsor this Sunday to remember and honour the brave aircrew who took part in the Battle of Britain, an important turning point in our history. This year marks the 85th anniversary since the pivotal victory.

The Royal Air Force Air Cadets units from Windsor and Maidenhead will gather in St Albans Street and march south to the war memorial in High Street. There will be a short wreath laying ceremony followed by a two-minute silence which will be marked by the playing of the Last Post and Reveille. A service will then take place inside the Windsor Parish Church.

Residents who would like to attend are encouraged to be there by 10.30am. Ceremonial Wardens and Ambassadors will be there to direct members of the public.

Please be aware that the following libraries will be closed on Wednesday, 24 September for staff training:

Cookham Neighbourhood Plan adopted

We've a adopted an important planning document that will help to shape future development within Cookham.

The Cookham Neighbourhood Plan was produced by local people on behalf of the parish council, following a process of community and stakeholder consultation and independent examination.

Last week, the Royal Borough’s Council voted unanimously to formally adopt or “make” the plan as part of the council’s Development Plan. This means the policies it contains will be used to decide planning applications within the parish.
