Fostering in the borough

Fostering can be a powerful experience for both child and carer. If you, or somebody you know, may be interested in Fostering, we encourage reaching out to our team to find out more.

On Thursday, our fostering team were busy answering your questions on all things fostering in Windsor High Street. They were visited by Councillor Amy Tisi, Cabinet Member for Children’s Services and Windsor.

Bin collections as normal this bank holiday weekend

We collect household waste and recycling on bank holiday dates (excluding Christmas and New Year)

If your bin is due to be collected on Monday 26 May, please put it at the kerbside by 7am on the day, as usual.

For more information about what can go in each bin, visit our waste webpage

Opening times may change at pharmacies this bank holiday weekend

If you need a local pharmacy for minor illnesses this weekend, remember opening times will vary. See the pharmacy opening hours of those across Berkshire

You can also find medical advice and support on NHS Frimley’s Health and Care website which might save having to find an open pharmacy. And having a well-stocked medicine cabinet could also save you that trip.

Little green fingers create rain gardens

Pupils from St Luke’s Primary School have been helping with the planting at the new rain gardens at Norfolk Park in Maidenhead.

Rain gardens are designed to slow water drainage to reduce the risk of flooding and are part of our Healthy Streets project to create welcoming green spaces for residents to enjoy.

The Healthy Streets project is funded by a £50k public health grant. This will also create a new St Luke’s Community Nature Garden which the pupils will again help plant.

Join our Disability and Inclusion Forum

We're looking for volunteers to become members of our Disability and Inclusion Forum

This resident led forum helps to raise important issues that affect people with disabilities living in the borough – working directly with councillors and the council.

There are no specific qualifications that you need to join the forum - we're looking for people who can use their knowledge, background and experience for the role.

The next meeting of the forum will be Monday 9 June at 11am. The agenda will be available to view a week before the meeting. If you would like to get involved or have any questions, please email equality@rbwm.gov.uk

Share your walking adventures

As May is National Walking Month, we've created a Walking for Health hub on RBWM Together where you can share details or photos of your favourite gems discovered on foot.

You can also find on the hub a library of walking maps across the borough to download, links to local walking groups plus other resources. Remember, as little as a ten-minute daily walk can boost both your physical and mental wellbeing. And walking is free.

The arts are coming to Eton!

From 24 May to 1 June, Eton will be teeming with events that encourage playing and exploring your creative side, as well as opportunities to support incredible local artists.

For more information on how to get involved, please visit the Arts Week website

Join us and find your next role at Maidenhead Library on Tuesday 27 May from 10.30am.

Jobseekers will have the opportunity to connect with employers looking for staff to fill their vacancies. Employers across a variety of sectors will be attending this event, so this is an ideal forum for candidates to understand the local jobs market, and the skills required to be successful in their applications.
