For a while there was some doubt but there will after all be a Funday on the above date at what has become the usual venue. All the usual popular things will be on offer - Steam Train rides, Fair Ground, Dog Show, Punch & Judy, Tombola, Raffle, Auction, Beer Tent, Hog Roast, BBQ, etc - but we are always on the lookout for new and unusual things for all the family to do. So please do let us know if you have any ideas.

Similarly, if you feel you can contribute, please contact us. We need donations (raffle and auction prizes) sponsorship and, more importantly, volunteers. If you can spare a few hours before, after, or on the day, we would be very grateful as the Fun Day would not be possible without the generosity of the locals.

We really want to make the Fun Day a great success again this year, so please do let us know as soon as you can if you are able to help for another Fun Day in Fifield!

Please call Barbara on 01753 830806, or email, or send a message

We look forward to hearing from you and seeing you on Saturday August 10 for more FUN!

FUN DAY 2018 REVIEW

The Fun Day in 2018 faced several difficulties. Firstly, we had to change the date to avoid clashing with Fifest and moved to the 28th July. The second major issue was the extreme heat and lack of rain throughout the summer which consequently created a serious fire risk and put the use of the train in jeopardy. As the train is our major, and unique, attraction this was a serious concern. In the end, Mr Buck was able to run a diesel train which saved the day, but it was still a disappointment to many not to see the steam train in operation.

As it transpired, a couple of days before the Fun Day we did have quite a heavy downpour of rain and the day itself was much cooler and very breezy. Whether all these things conspired against us or whether it was ‘just one of those things’ we don’t know, but our footfall was considerably less than the previous year and therefore, the overall profit was a little disappointing.

However, those that did turn up thoroughly enjoyed their day. We had our ever-popular dog show, Anna Nightingale serenaded the guests at the Tea Tent, the Punch & Judy attracted the usual crowds and Mr Muddle caused magical mayhem throughout the afternoon.

Thanks to our wonderful volunteers we also had many of our own attractions which raised a lot of money for the causes.

Huge thanks to all who supported us by donating money and gifts, by helping on the day and by turning up and enjoying the fun. And finally, immense gratitude goes to Louise Shenston and Julie Glover who have arranged their final Fun Day after many years dedicated service. If you would like to help in 2019, donate a raffle prize, or sponsor one of the attractions (of which there will be many!) please get in touch.

Alternatively, just come along and have Fun!

We look forward to seeing you !

About the Fifield Fun Day

The Fifield Fun Day has been held in August in Fifield village since 2003.

Originally the brain child of Gary & Helen – former landlords of the Fifield Inn – the Fun Day was successfully run by them and their team of volunteers for the first 6 years. Since then a stalwart team of volunteers has carried on the good work and in 2013 it came under the auspices of the Community Association.

The Fun Day was originally held in the grounds of Blenheims, courtesy of Paul and Tina and then, three years ago, it moved to it’s current venue - “Deep Meadows” the home of David & Patricia Buck. Deep Meadows gives the whole event a cosy, country fete atmosphere and the steam trains add extra nostalgia.

Every year the committee strive to improvement the entertainment on offer and the amount raised for charity. We aim to support two main local charities each year and a number of smaller local charities, children & youth groups and not-for-profit organisations in the Fifield area.

We hope that the favourite attractions will always be there:- the Fair Ground, the Dog Show, Punch & Judy, Tombola, Raffle. Auction, Beer Tent and BBQ, but we are always on the look out for new and unusual things for all the family to do, so please do let us know if you have any ideas.

If you feel you can contribute please contact us via the email uttons or phone numbers top right. We need donations (raffle and auction prizes) sponsorship and, more importantly, volunteers. If you can spare a few hours before, after, or on the day, we would be very grateful as the Fun Day would not be possible without the generosity of the locals.

We look forward to seeing you at the next Fifield Fun Day !!!
